Porsche Cayenne Hits the 100,000 Model Mark in Leipzig

The 100,000th Porsche Cayenne just rolled off the production line in Leipzig at of one of the most state-of-the-art auto manufacturing plants in the world! And its timing couldn't be more perfect! The 100,000 model mark also serves to ring in the 10-year anniversary celebration of the Leipzig facility's success in producing the Cayenne and the Porsche Panamera. Though, it seems the plant can't produce enough to satisfy global demand for the luxury SUV. In order to accommodate this demand, Porsche will be adding a third production shift to the Leipzig plant, starting this month. The additional shift is expected to grow unit production to 500/day.

The big question still remains: Where will the 100,000th Porsche Cayenne go? The Cayenne is currently sold in nearly 125 markets worldwide. But, this snow-white, V8-packing SUV is destined for Brazil with the proud owner waiting expectantly.

Motor Werks Porsche of Barrington is happy to report that Porsche is preparing to build an all-new model range in Leipzig, starting at the end of next year. We can't tell exactly what to expect yet. But it's clear they're serious, with expansions already in the works.

Projecting what consumers can expect from Porsche, moving forward, Siegried Bulow, President and Chief Executive Officer, Porsche says, "2012 will...be an eventful and exciting year in many respects. We are welcoming many new employees, holding topping-out ceremonies on the new site..."1
