Porsche Encourages Aspiring Racecar Drivers

Who says dreams don't come true? Certainly not the two young drivers picked for this year's "Porsche Juniors" program. The new initiative from Porsche aims to give youth talent the chance to compete in the Carrera Cup Deutschland series next year, which could serve as a starting point for the careers of these lucky participants.

Some of the more exciting points of this new program include the fact that both drivers will be assigned a junior coach, a large portion of the season's budget, and the choice of which racing them they'd like to work with. In other words, there are no limitations to what they can do, and Motor Werks Porsche of Barrington, serving the greater Chicago area is eager to track the progress that the two "Porsche Juniors" make in the world of racing.

"With our long term Youth Development Programme, we continue the extremely successful tradition of the Porsche Junior Team," explains Hartmut Kristen, Head of Porsche Motorsport. "For us, supporting talented youngsters is an investment in the future. In line with our LMP1 project, we want to expand our driver lineup. After all, aside from our works commitment in prototype racing, we don't want to neglect our GT racing activities and we also want to support our customer teams with works drivers in the future."1

The "Porsche Juniors" program has been in place since 1997, and many of initiatives alumni have gone on to have very successful careers in the world of racing. Some notable racers who started out in the program include professional drivers Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb and Patrick Long.

Of course, Motor Werks Porsche of Barrington would also note that you don't need to be accepted into the "Porsche Juniors" program in order to experience the thrill of a new Porsche.
